Our History
Highlander Energy was started in 1981 as a small family owned heating contracting company. Our operations are conducted in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest in the small town of Kane, PA. Highlander quickly developed and grew into a very successful industrial contractor specializing in the power, petro-chemical, natural gas processing, pulp and paper, manufacturing, forest products, and renewable natural gas industries. Our key to success is the quality workmanship we provide to our customers, our competitive pricing as well as the performance and professionalism of our field crews. We take pride in our workforce and maintain the philosophy of teaching our employees to be multi-skilled by providing ongoing training programs. Furthermore, Highlander Energy Products continually maintains an excellent safety record.
Our Team
Michael Pomeroy
Vice President
Michael has over 45 years of experience on heavy industrial projects for the powerplant, papermill, petro-chemical, and compressed gases industries. Manages new capital projects, shut-down projects, as well as maintenance projects. He is also involved with every aspect of a project including the development new customer relations, estimating, scheduling and billing.
Cheryl Sprague
Accounting Manager / Office Manager
Cheryl holds over 25 years of accounting experience and is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions.
Cory Darr
Safety / Personnel Director
Cory earned a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Safety and Environmental Science and a Masters Degree in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University and began his career with Highlander Energy in 2007. He is responsible for guiding and promoting safe work performance of all Highlander Energy employees by developing and maintaining safety policies and procedures, along with implementing any and all required employee safety training programs and certifications. He also assists in managing day-to-day operations of Highlander Energy, including employee work scheduling, human resources, and personnel management.
David Parana
Engineer and Project Manager
David has over 30 years of design engineering experience; responsible for engineering duties including drafting, piping and pumping systems design, equipment specification, and estimating. Experience includes the management of midstream and compression projects for the natural gas industry, capital and process piping projects for industrial clients, as well as new and retrofit HVAC systems for commercial clients. Mr. Parana is the qualifying agent for our Florida and West Virginia contractor licenses.
Mark Koza
Project Manager
Over 25 years combined trade and supervisory experience on industrial, commercial and natural gas piping projects. Supervises capital projects, shut-downs and plant maintenance projects.
John Slewinski
Project Manager
Over 28 in construction related fields and has in depth knowledge of concrete
design, production, placement and quality control as well as concrete facility design,
construction, and management. Involved in areas such as deep foundation slurry
walls, wind turbine foundations, mass concrete including thermal control, under water
concrete placements, roller compacted concrete and portable concrete production.
Aaron Smith
Shop Supervisor
Aaron manages the day to day activities of our 30,000 square foot fabrication shop including material delivery, fabrication, testing, documentation, and final delivery of finished products.
Richard Edinger
Civil Superintendent & Project Manager
Richard possesses over 34 years combined trade and supervisory experience on civil construction projects for industrial and commercial projects. He is involved in every phase of a project from assisting, bidding and field supervision.
Ted Bimler
Project Manager
Ted has greater than 32 years of experience on industrial projects. Supervises capital projects, shut-downs, as well as continuous plant maintenance projects.
Doug Kunicki
Tank Supervisor
Doug has in excess of 28 years experience with tank construction and repairs.
Seth. B. Pomeroy
Project Manager & Draftsman
Seth has beyond 28 years experience with computer aided design and drafting for construction and fabrication projects. He is responsible for the preparation of fabrication travelers, document control and fabrication estimating.
